Need Suggestions on decent Drum Machines?

Sign in to disble this ad
Hey guys...

I hope this is the right string to write to.

I'm in the market for a drum machine and am looking for some recomendations. The primary intention would be for practice. I'm not looking to use it to record anything.

I prefer not to have too much technology built into it. All I want is an easy to use machine with some pre-recorded drum samples built in.

The drums don't even need to be that authentic sounding. It doesn't need to have any line outs into a board. Just a jack to plug it into an amplifier. I don't want to pay go over $200 either.

So for me, I'm looking for something that gets me from point A to B easily and without too much hassel. I just want a beat to play to after the real drummer goes home.

Does anyone have a suggestion?

Jeff

The Alesis drum machines are great, the SR16 and the SR18. The SR18 is the newer/improved model so is more expensive.

+1 to Alesis SR16 - under $150 dollars new. Even less used.

Also, the Boss DR-3, (their lowest priced one), is packed full of some great patterns, and able to do whatever you may want.

Zoom MRT-3B. Lots of cool sounds and easy to program for about $100.00 new. I got mine new for about $70 on eBay. It has a lightweight plastic casing, though. I'm a home studio guy, so it's not an issue for me. Since you want a drum machine for practice, it should be fine.

Thanks guys...I decided to buy the SR-18. It wasn't much more than the 16 and seem to have more preset drum riffs. So that's where I went. I also liked that Zoom MRT-3B. If it turns out that I'm a total loser with the SR-18 I may just go basic with the Zoom...It was very easy looking.
