I don't know if this was ever brought up here before about a Canadian band that included Neil Young, Rick James, and Nick St. Nicholas & Goldy McJohn (Steppenwolf) in the 1960s.
Members of the Canadian band, The Mynah Birds, with Neil Young, Rick James, Nick St. Nicholas, and Goldy McJohn went onto bigger things. This song called "It's My Time" was to be released as a single by Motown records but that never happened because Rick James was arrested for going AWOL after running off to Toronto.
Two other members of this group, keyboardist Goldy McJohn and bass player Nick St. Nicholas went on to form Jack London & The Sparrows, which later replaced Jack London with German born John Kay. John Kay, Jerry Edmonton, and Goldy McJohn changed their name to Steppenwolf and the group went on to record such '60s rock anthems as "Magic Carpet Ride" and "Born To Be Wild"
Over its short lifespan, the group featured a surprisingly large number of artists in its many different configurations. Its most memorable lineup included future funk star Rick James, Rickman Mason, John Taylor and future folk-rock music stars Neil Young and Bruce Palmer, both of whom went on to form Buffalo Springfield. Earlier members included Goldie McJohn, who like Nick St Nicholas, was later in rock band Steppenwolf. As well, a late-running 1967 version of The Mynah Birds featured noted folk-rocker Bruce Cockburn.
