| New arrangement of Honeysuckle Rose -- advice

I'm doing a new arrangement of Honeysuckle Rose to record for my demo, with the following lineup --
Guitar
Bass
Trumpet
Piano
Vocals
Drums
My question -- should I go for a kind of Jaco-Herbie kind of feel with a Fender Rhodes piano, hot staccato bassline, muted trumpet, etc., or a traditional 30's jazz feel with walking bass, George Benson-style guitar line, etc.?
All of the musicians involved are more than good enough to handle both styles, so ability isn't part of the equation. I was totally originally intending it to do it as the classic thirties thing until the possiblity to use a Fender Rhodes popped up. I've also been listening to the Jaco debut CD a lot lately, as well as the spacier Miles Davis, Herbie, Chick Corea Elektrik Band, etc. so this is also prompting this uncertainty.
Any advice? I'd definitely appreciate any opinions.
