New Bass Or Computer?

So it's Christmas soon and I'll have enough money for a warwick 5 string rockbass vampyre but also want a PC which I can also buy but I can't get both, all of my games are on PC and if I get it I can record be still, it's a wick.

Anyway was wondering on your thoughts.

Cheers, Sam

It depends on what you enjoy more PC games or playing bass I love PC games but I love the bass more you should be able to get some great prices on PCs with Christmas coming.

You need an updated PC to move forward in recording and learning.

You already have a bass.

This kind of a hard choice, no? They both fall in two different categories. And what is the new acquisition for? Entertainment? Work?

So, I have to choose... carrots. They're cheaper at least.

As long as you've got at least a 486, you don't need no stinking new computer.

I would never buy a new computer purely for the purpose of entertainment. Entertainment can definitely be part of the whole package (it always is ), but I also have to be able to justify it in terms of greater/better learning, skills enhancement, increased productivity - or something else equally important.

Getting a new computer just for playing games sounds like something a kid would do...

IMO, not enough memory (RAM and graphics), graphics too slow, hard disk too small, connects obsolete (no USB ports), CPU not fast enough to run security software on top of internet browsers and original monitors not enough pixels and weary on the eyes.

Good try!

If you have to ask, it's not really the bass you want. Get the PC and enjoy your computer games.

Excuse me. The only thing he needs a computer for is to be on TalkBass. A 486 will work just fine for that. All that other crap is superfluous.

But other than the things you listed a 486 is GREAT!

(A 486 is just about useless. I hope the guy was joking.)

About 11 years ago when my daughter was three, we gave her our 486 for her Math Rabbit and other games, and we got a brand new Pentium. So she was at her computer playing some game, and looked over at me and said, "Dad, my computer is too slow." When I finally stopped laughing, I checked it out and, sure enogh, all the motion in the game was stop-and-go. We ended up giving her our Pentium and getting a newer one for ourselves. She has a MacBook Pro now (my wife drew her into the dark side).
