New Bass Strap Creation. What do you think?

Hello All,

Long time lurker, first time posting, and I'm very glad for this awesome community of bass players!

Well, I was unemployed over the summer and took up the craft of leatherworking in hopes of making myself a unique bass strap. I'm currently in a Metal band and play a BC Rich Black Widow 5-string that is very neck heavy. I personally like the bass to be in a more vertical position while playing and a traditional bass strap was not getting the job done, the bass would neck dive tremendously. So I was using a slider guitar strap system that was almost what I wanted. It would hold the bass more vertical, but it would eventually neck dive and I'd find myself re-adjusting mid-song, I just don't like playing and having to hold up the bass neck at the same time. So, lo and behold, I have attached pics of my new strap. It is very comfortable and I can completely let go of the bass and it stays put right were I leave it. I must admit it's a little heavy with all that chain, but I was going for something a little more bad-a$$ for the Metal band. Even though it's heavier than any strap I've ever used, it's also the most comfortable strap I've ever used. I plan on making a "light" version that I can wear when I play with more "normal" people (no chains or spikes). Take a look and let me know what you think (don't mind my ugly mug in the pic, it's the most Metal face I could come up with at the time). Here are pics of the front, back, and two close-ups:

Hey, if it works for you, good. I remember seeing something years ago like this somewhat. It was actually a template of the shape of a bass, that you would fit over your bass, and then it waould attach to a stand. You could adjust the angle of the neck and the height, and just stand behind it and play. don't think they ever caught on though, I don't see them around anymore. But, good job !

they make the 'dare guitar strap' that has a double shoulder design, but might be for a different purpose. I bet if you refined it a bit, you could sell a bunch to t-bird players.
