I dont know how many Coheed fans are here, but they have their new album on their myspace and I think it is my favorite album, up there with phobia by breaking benjamin, along with various Tool songs.
The song writing, perfromances, and just everything is top notch and sweeeeet. Beautiful parts too that just make your jaw drop.
The bass isnt spectacular persay, but it fits perfectly, and the tone is amazing.
all in my opinion of course
Anybody else heard this stuff yet? If not, I highly recommend it. The album comes out the 23rd. |

Impressive playing without all the senseless flash and lack of emotion that plagues much of the genre. I definitely liek the dark stuff better than the poppy tunes.
Not to hijack, and not that it's anywhere near as technical as C&C, but I can sure see the appeal of Coheed over unspeakable junk like AFI.
How anyone can stand that godawful noise is beyond me. Usually I can see the merit in any popular music: There is something about it which I can see as being appealing to some one it would appeal to. In the case of AFI, I'd say it sounds like a cat fight in a china shop, but the cats wouldn't sound as consistently flat as that singer. Can someone enlighten me on why they sell records?
But I digress, I'm definitely looking forward to hearing the new C&C.

AFI = suck. IMO.
Apparently there's going to be different versions of the cd - one with just the cd and one with like a comic and extra acoustic tracks... |

And FYI, it's the drummer from the Foo Fighters on the album (it's really obvious when you listen to the single "The Running Free"). The guy from Dillenger played with them on Warped Tour and I guess is the new full-time drummer.
On AFI, they made some really good stuff before they made the jump to the majors. And honestly I kinda like what they did with "Sing the Sorrow". The new album, however, is puke-worthy. What killed me is I saw 'em for free back in May and they didn't even play "Days of the Phoenix" or "Total Immortal". Big time letdown.
OK. Back to Coheed. |

I like how their sound has evolved from one album to the next, and this one has sort of an arena-rock feel to it. There's definately some good guitar work, and the bass tone is delicious.
So far, I think No World For Tomorrow is my favorite track, and the hook in whatever track 4 is called is just too sing-along worthy ("Back porch baby" or something along those lines).
I don't quite understand people's problem with the previous album; I love it. |

My favs are No World For Tomorrow, Mother Supierior, and The End Complete.
The delay intro on the End Complete is just sweet.
I'm on the same page as you Phantopeth - I love the fact that their sound as "evolved" from one album to the next. |

Don't get me wrong I was a huge second stage fan and their last release wasn't as that great, but they have definitely redeemed themselves. I miss the old drummer but the guy from dillinger can really rock.
The comic books are pretty sweet too, they explain the concepts behind all the lyrics. |

They played for nearly two hours, and ended the show with like a 15 min long jam of The Final Cut. Claudio was even running a theremin in his effects loop to make some crazy sounds, then he threw up lol.

I'll continue to listen to it here and there, but the album hasn't really grabbed me like their previous ones did. I was sitting down and listening to it with a good friend of mine this weekend who is also a big Coheed fan, and he was unimpressed with the album, and it almost got to the point where we turned it off before it ended.
Eh, oh well, I suppose 3 out of 4 compelling albums is pretty good. I'm not giving up all hope though, it did take me a little time to get into Good Apollo, so maybe this one will creep up on me
Oh, and Gruvmunki, why did Claudio throw up?! |

I really want this album to grow on me.
IKSOSE:3 is an absolute masterpiece of an album, though
