New DragonForce Song!!!

Sign in to disble this ad
Holy ****!

DF just released a new song on there MySpace (www.myspace.com/dragonforce) and it is KILLER!

I am by no means a huge DragonForce fan, I only like about 2 or 3 songs, but man I can't stop listening to this new one. I even ripped it from there MySpace to blast in the car, and I also have it set as my new ringtone. Yes... I like it THAT much.

I can't wait to hear more from there new album and I especially can't wait to see them on Mayhem fest. I hear they put on one hell of an interesting show!

Sounds like a cross between Manowar, Journey, and The Chipmunks.

Here's the video for the song too. Kinda weird they came out with the music video the same day the song is released but whatever lol. It's better than there other videos IMO... it's not as "nerdy", if you will.

That would be a good song if it weren't for all the spazzy showing off.

Bahahahahaha so much guitar wanking!!! I love how the bassist and drummer are just there so very little attention.

Sounds genericly Dragonforce, I still like real power metal, I was about to laugh during that guitar solo thingy hahah

I don't think they are as terrible as people make them out to be. If they had a better singer, I think they'd be pretty killer... well... at least better. I always think it's weird when a watered down version of a unpopular genre eeks it's way into the mainstream. I never thought I'd see a power metal band get as popular as dragonforce, or a "stoner rock" band get as popular as Wolfmother.

Not terrible, but "watered down" sounding compared to more accurate representations.

+1

Nice term: "watered down".

I have the same feeling of the dutch band Within Temptation.
Only because they brought a watered down type of symphonic gothic metal they were appreciated by the mainstream audience. And not much fanbase from the "hardcore" gothic/symphonic metalheads.

Same happened to Nightwish. They were really good at their genre, but after their album Wishmaster they also "watered down". (lol, I like saying this now.)
And then reached a wider audience of listeners.
I guess in their case selling more albums and concerttickets became more important because that's their necessary living income.

Eh... there are hundred examples of these things.

Can everyone stop calling DragonForce Powermetal, if anything they're closer to speedmetal.

Hmm, close to speedmetal I wouldn't call them either.

How about stuck-in-2nd-gear-metal?

Btw (serious now), what is to considered powermetal?

For instance: I like Sonata Arctica, but the majority labels them as powermetal and I don't think that description fits them. It's very melodic, synthesizer used, and some songs are so original that it's almost (remember, I said almost) progressive metal.

Define powermetal.

It is insulting to metal.
Dragonforce is totally power-aluminum.

Or power-nickel? As a reference to Nickelback.
Because Nickelback is considere sheep-rock.
Dragonforce = sheep-metal?

I'm gonna go hide now.

Well, I had deleted my post (but not before it was quoted above) because I'm not interested in getting into a "define metal" discussion. That is always a pointless exercise IMO.

As some kind of defined category, I suppose DF would go in a column as some kind of metal.

As an appropriately applied adjective, they aren't very metal IMO.

(I do, however, think they could star in a new movie: Spinal Tap - The Next Generation)

Sorry, about the quick-draw-quote.
I got you.

About definition of metal: yeah we can discuss that into infinity.

All I have to say is this: most people think metal is a life-style, I like to think it's a music-style...

If you deleted your post again before I put up this post with your quote...
Well then nevermind everything.

actually i think the proper term is power sheep, but w/e

in actuality after watching the video it looks like they're taking themselves more seriously... no stupid cutouts of the guitar neck during the solos, no video game references, and no cut to one of the members drinking water during the solo

I enjoy Dragonforce every now and then. It's kind of candy metal. It's a fun treat, but if you try to digest too much of it at a time, you get sick.

I liked the song, and it has a pretty decent video. I'll probably pick up their new album.

The cheesy lyrics always get to me. I will listen to Dragonforce as they add songs to Guitar Hero .

Can't stand to watch them live (more specifically, can't stand to watch Sam Totman live, he is SO annoying). Thankfully they were followed by Chimaera and Killswitch Engage.

Later
Rob
