New Guitar Day!

Actually, it's for my 25-year-old oldest son. We were talking this morning and the conversation turned to music and guitars. He told me that he'd like to start playing guitar soon, and maybe Santa would be good to him this year. So since I had a 15% off coupon from GC I went there this afternoon and picked up one of these - a Jasmine by Takamine S35 Acoustic Guitar, regular $100, for $85.00. I did my homework beforehand, and they came highly recommended, and guess what? They're right! I highly recommend them too! It's amazing what you can get for very little money these days. OK, it's not a Martin, and it doesn't pretend to be, but right out of the box the fit and finish (satin) are of a good quality, the action is good and playable, the hardware is decent, and the strings are in good condition. So I tuned it up and gave it a go. It's a classic dreadnought sound, slightly on the trebly side, but I wouldn't hesitate to play this guitar anytime, anywhere. I've never played a bad Tak, and this Jasmine is no exception. I highly recommend it for the beginning guitarist out there.

Jasmine by Takamine S35 Acoustic Guitar and more 6 String Acoustic Guitars at GuitarCenter.com.

Well, I just thought I'd throw this out here, despite this being a bass guitar forum, in case there would be someone out there who would like to learn a chordal instrument that might help them to learn to play better bass by increasing their knowledge of harmony.

If not, then carry on!
