Just signed up to the forum today, so here's a little introduction. (Hope I'm posting this in the right place...)

I'm one of those guitarist-convert bassists. Though I still play guitar, and keyboards, and so on.

I have several basses -- the usual stuff, like a Ric and a P-Bass. Lately, I've been getting a lot of mileage out of an Epi Viola (Beatle-style) semi-hollow.

My bass philosophy:
  • Try NOT to sound like a guitarist playing bass!
  • Keep it simple
  • Grooooove

Best of luck with that! Sometimes they're so easy to spot, they might as well be wearing a huge flashing beacon on their heads.

For those in the know, it's like spotting a trumpet player doubling on french horn (laser-beam like sound), or vice versa I suppose(trying to stick their hand inside the bell of the trumpet

BTW, welcome!
