In the newest issue of Electronic Gaming Monthly, a guy who claims to have been playing bass for 12 years (and recently piano) writes in to give the standard Guitar Hero "they should at least try to play real instruments, there's no reason not to" spiel, basically saying that "When you're playing your plastic instruments and a real musician makes a remark about how you should try playing a real instrument, think about all the time you spend playing video games, and relate it to the fact that to be even just an average guitar player, all you need to do is play one for an hour a day."
The magazine replies:
"Well, setting aside the fact that bass isn't a real instrument either (come on, just four strings?), we have to agree - which is why we always make fun of COD4 players for not joining the Army and rip on Madden fans for not going out for the NFL."
I'm sure it's meant with a heavy slopping of sarcasm, but... Comments?
(I think it's just that I hear this earnestly from real people that it kinda bites.) |
