"On February 9, 2007, Metallica confirmed that pre-production on the ninth studio album had been completed, and recording began on March 12, 2007.[66] Set for release in September 2008, Metallica and Rubin "polished" vocal mixes throughout December 2007.[67]"

Looks like I will have to fire up LimeWire again, I will not pay for any Metallica album after Lars made himself look like an oaf with the Napster controversy.

And Newsteds (when he was with the band) comments on the band selling out.... "We sell out, every night......every show"

What a waste. Retire already.

I'll buy it. If it's good, cool. If it's not, I'll go next to St. Anger.

Nope Newstead, google it. I believe it was a behind the music interview

His exact words "Yes, we sell out...every seat in the house."

huh, haha, that's a line that has stuck out in my mind for years and I always attributed it to Lars. Apparently I've been falsely characterizing Lars as an egotistical maniac for years

I've heard a lot of hype about this album being based on their late-80's style power metal as opposed to the emo rock they've been associated with so much lately. This album is supposed to have long, epic songs with major guitar riffage, double bass, and lots of soloing. I think Trujillo would go great with such a recipe, let's hope they deliver on their promises.

Wasn't there a boatload of hype re: St. Anger with many of the same claims, however?
