NEW METALLICA SINGLE!!! The Day That Never Comes!!!

Sign in to disble this ad
Let's first throw this out there....I absolutely despised St. Anger.

Now that that is out of the way.....HOLY CRAP!!!!!!!!! The new song is sick!!!! Just heard it on 93.3 WMMR in Philly and it blew me away! It sounds like a lost track off of ....And Justice for All!!! The instrumental/solo section is killer and Hetfield's vocals and lyrics sound really good on first listen. I am highly anticipating this album now. Cheers for Rick Rubin getting them back to their former selves!!!

This song and the other one (Cyanide) have peaked my interest enough to say I will check out the album when it is released.

Here's the link from there website...

I have to say..alot better than that live piece of crap version of Cyanide.

I really think they should have cut the song at 7 minutes or so....that ending is pretty horrible!!

Also here are some 30 seconds clips of 3 other songs from the new album....

Getting them back to their former selves is stretching it a bit. They'll never be Metallica again, but getting Rick Rubin to produce was a step in the right direction.

I heard the song this evening and thought it wasn't bad; not St. Anger bad anyway, but it's still in the area of Load and Reload, both of which I despised.

I've been a fan since 85 even had the chance to see Cliff live , the song mmm some parts sound like a rip off of some old songs such as fade to black or one, I hope I like it more as time passes, same thing happen with st anger I hated it at firts the it turn ok never rocked as the old stuff but not bad.

the live version of Cyanide did sound terrible.. but i think the studio version will be sick..that drum and bass in the beginning is cool..sounds almost like Rage..lets give this all a chance.. that was one song..Kirk did go crazy towards the end..for the better or for the worse...rick Rubin is a genious..im glad they left Bob Rock for Rick..this song is like a modern day Saniterium..with influences of Fade To Black And To Live Is To Die..can't wait for the CD..the Unforgiven III? that sounds really cool!

I HAVE HATED METALLICA SINCE SAINT ANGER. That Album was so foul that it completely turned me agianst the band. I will listen to this new single, and then see if Im going to come back to the band. Illpost my reaction in a second. COnsider this a BEfore-and-After thing...

I'm actually surprised you went that long liking them. I began to sour on them during the black album.

I'm highly disappointed in what I heard from the links dragonbass posted. If that is the new album then I guess they really are dead in my eyes. Buh-bye Metallica.

Well I was born in 1988 so buy the time I was old enough to understand the music I heard my first metallica song was Enter Sandman, and at the time it was the heaviest thing Id heard so I thought it was the Shiznit. THen of course I found the older stuff and loved it even more, but St. Anger and Lars and James attitudes in SOME KIND OF MONSTER just absolutely killed the band for me. I lost respect for them completely. That album was utter crap and GODDAMN they are the whineist multi-millionars Ive ever heard.

FINALLY Lars isn't using that God awful triggered kick sound.

I am listening to it now anyone notice the Fade to Black riff ripoff in the chorus? Like a dumbed down version. That's why it sounds like Ride the Lightning.

The ending is like the old Metallica, I say LIKE. Lars drumming is horrible compared to other Metallica stuff. Sounds like drum machine, not in a good way, sounds like a loop.

Not a buy for me.

Meh...

Not bad, not GREAT, either. I noticed the "Fade to Black" similarity right away (chord progression, vox), but it was the attempt to bring back the "Jump in the Fire" vibe at the end that wrecked it for me...

And dual guitar harmonies? C'mon guys, leave that stuff to Maiden (where it belongs - and noone does it better!!!).

Unfortunately, my favorite band of all time (yes, even in SPITE of St Anger), is getting O-L-D. Time to let go of the past and try to make some music that better suits you NOW. Mayhap the met-uhl from 1981 should be left there...

Don't get me wrong - I LOVE Metallica - always have. Used to do the cover band thing - in fact, my vocal style has been described "James Hetfield sings everything"! I just don't like to see them "grasping at straws" by playing stuff from 25 years ago.

I'll still buy it, just 'cuz I've bought everything else.

Definitely not so hot. It feels like they went digging around in some old scrap pieces of paper from the Black album days looking for ideas.

Metallica ceased to exist when Bob Rock entered the picture. "Real" fans know this.
