| New Music Wiki Looking to Start...

Thought I'd pass this on... PROJECT X, formerly an online webzine that existed between 2001 and 2003, is returning to action as an online wiki within the next few weeks.
Recent policy changes at Wikipedia have made the creation and maintenence of articles there difficult to say the least. A severe crackdown ..righted images that would otherwise be considered acceptable under the Fair Use Clause of the US Copyright Act has made contributing music-related articles to Wikipedia less than enjoyable; the crackdown has since resulted in many articles looking less than professional because of a new policy at Wikipedia that insists that only "free" images of living persons be used, irregardless of quality; if these images don't exist, the article becomes image-free and thus looks unfinished and sloppy.
Wikipedia's reluctance to have every user register before making edits and contributing articles to Wikipedia has resulted in frequent vandalism to the articles of many popular music acts, causing even more lost time that editors could be using to actually improve Wikipedia's music articles.
With that in mind, Project X is planning to relaunch as a Music Wiki without those hassles. Project X: The Music Wiki will recognize the user's right to use copyrighted material under the Fair Use Clause of the US Copyright Act, something the Wikimedia Foundation refuses to recognize or respect despite the fact that their servers are on United States soil.
The first step will be to find a dedicated server company that will host Project X Music Wiki. The second step will be to create content. The first takes money and the second takes manpower.
To assist in the first step, Project X are soliciting donations that will be used strictly to establish an account for server maintenence and upkeep. Our initial target goal is small - somewhere between $250 and $500, although we certainly will not refuse more.
The second step, once our first goal is met, is to find volunteers to help set up the wiki software, create and maintain articles, and all of the other things that go with the music wiki.
<p>WHAT YOU CAN DO:
1. Donate any amount you can to the Project X Music Wiki via PayPal at projectxwiki@gmail.com. (The donation link is at their myspace page, http://www.myspace.com/projectxwiki). Donations at present will not be tax deductible, but will not be used for any other purpose other than the wiki's server and upkeep.
2. Join Project X Wiki's MySpace page (http://www.myspace.com/projectxwiki) to keep informed of updates regarding the status of the new music wiki project.
3. Spread the word to friends and family and encourage them to do the same.
Thanking you in advance,
Project X Wiki
