New Police DVD

Sign in to disble this ad
I just picked up the new Police DVD today......

I am about 3/4 way through and Sting has not let go of his classic P!

Man - it sounds GREAT! the dolby surround is awesome!

not a bad concert either......I am an "old school" Police fan (having attended the Synchronicity concert in high school)....

they are older but still seem to have what it takes!!

I kind of lost teh faith when Sting went out on his own and got so ......well.......(cannot say it here - cannot get "political"...oops did I just say that!?)

he seems "in his element" on stage here....

comments?

There's another thread here with some good words about this DVD set...so I bought it for myself for Xmas.

I watched it once-
All I can say is "Ugh".

I'm an old skool fan of The Police, too. Arena Rock is not their thing, IMO.
And maybe it was the TV set I used...Sting's bass was way too low in the mix, Summers' playimg was fine (& the hottest in the mix)...Copeland's drumming leaned way too much on baclkbeat playing, IMO.

watching festival coverage I've noticed Sting plays the old Police basslines further up the neck wherever possible nowadays for some reason, eg. he's moved lines on the A string onto the E string.
it looks a bit awkward sometimes- I'm unsure whether he does it to get a fatter tone or to minimise left-hand finger stretches.

I got the Police DVD for Christmas and I agree with you! I also saw them last May, terrific show! Unfortunately, I don't have a surround system. I think I'll bring it to my friend's place and hear it like it should sound.

I do like some of his solo stuff though, especially the Blue Turtles and the Soul Cages periods.

I’ve just got the DVD too and think it’s great. The sound quality is excellent, way better than when I actually saw them in the flesh in 2007 but then that just the luck of the draw with where you sit in the arena.

Sting’s bass lines come through loud and clear, in fact the overall mix is very good. I don’t have surround but I do link my TV to a HI-FI so can get a decent sound from that.
