New punk, let's make a list.

Alright, I'm a longtime punk fan. My high school years were all about Bad Religion, The Vandals, Bouncing Souls, Strung Out, Agent Orange, and on and on.

Lately though, it's been tough to find bands that are just straight-ahead punk, without drifting into emo or metal or goth. To give you a frame of reference for the sort of punk I'm talking about, think The Explosion or (early) Rise Against.

So let's hear it, what are some bands these days that play straightforward, no frills fast punk music? List local bands, I don't care how underground. I just want to know what's going on in punk these days.

Oh, and if you're gonna post something about how punk died in the 70's or 80's, or how nothing will ever top Black Flag, don't bother. I don't care how old you are.

Really digging The Bloody Hollies lately. New Bomb Turks have been around for a while but are still together. Midnight Evils are sort of in this same vein and really good. For more obscure stuff, Pissed Jeans is freaking awesome. Titus Andronicus is more poppy but also awesome.

Great thread idea! I was thinking of this same thing too.

That list is great Din. I'll check them out and find one that speaks to me. Thank you. =)

Last I checked, the Loved Ones were still together, but I know Dave is doing his solo stuff on the side.

Banner Pilot
Off With Their Heads
The Menzingers
The Sidekicks (first album was punk, new stuff is indy-ish)
Carpenter
Polar Bear Club
The Cobra Skulls
