New Retailer: Bass San Diego

I found a dealer link for this new-to-me bass retailer while visiting the Euphonic Audio website.

The BassSanDiego website says they are located in the Hammond Ashley buidling (Hammond Ashley specializes in violins, violas, celli, DB), and carry EA, Zon, Renaissance, MTD US, MTD Kingston, Aria, Dingwall, Elrick, Epifani...

Have any TBers been there yet? Know anything about them?

Hey, sorry I haven't added this to my profile yet, and I'm not trying to advertise, but I'm the manager there. My name is George, and if you have any questions, feel free to PM, call, email, whatever. We love it when people come down to the shop.

Hello George,

My name is Harry and I visited the store yesterday, met Chris and chatted a bit. Nice place, San Diego needed a dedicated bass shop.

Hey, George. I haven't met you yet, but I'm sure I'll bump into you sooner or later. Word should get out pretty quickly that you guys are here. Chris said he'd be interested in having a GTG in the venue, so I've got a feeler out.

Great! Yeah, there's a real decent spot upstairs for a GTG/masterclass/clinic. Should be real fun when it happens. Looking forward to meeting all the SD locals on BG/DB that I haven't yet had the pleasure.

I checked this place out yesterday and I must say it was a very good experience. I've only met George the store manager, but he was a great guy to deal with. I tried out a Squier Vintage Modified Fretless, which was a lot of fun. And I also got to play with their Dingwall Super J Standard 5, which has got to be the best-sounding bass I've heard to date. I don't even play five strings, but I was blown away by how great the low B sounded. I think it's great to have a bass-only store in San Diego again. If you live in the area check these guys out!

Cool!

The website home page mentions John DiMaggio being available for setups, etc...wasn't he the founder of Bass Alone? What's his relationship to this store?

I don't live in San Diego, but my sister and dad do...next time I visit them I'll have to run out to this store and see what they've got!

He's our bass repair/setup/inlay guy, friend of the store, general guru. He's sort of on contract to do special jobs whenever he's available.

Hope that answers your question.

George

Everybody check out the thread in the GTG forum. Maybe very soon, depending on attendance.
