I was perusing the local free rag the other day and came across a Rode NT4 stereo mic for a very good price. After a few emails negotiating a super good price, I picked it up. I'm going to use it to record our rehearsals into my old MD recorder. It's quite bitchen. It has a cable with a 1/8-inch stereo plug that goes right into the recorder. It requires phantom power, but also has a 9-volt battery on board so it doesn't have to go through a sound board. It also has an adapter cord that you can use to plug in into two channels of a board with standard XLR cables. Perfect for drum overheads.
So far, I've only recorded our dog growling while playing tug-of-war, and the fidelity is superb. I've got a bunch of other Rode mics, and they all have great sound.
MOTL.

Be sure to let us know what you think after you"ve been using it for a while. The NT-4 has had me VERY interested, it just seems to be a bit too specific for me to spend that much on a new one at this point.

There are a number of stereo mics you can buy with x/y configurations. I prefere wider stereo configurations for most applications, so I would not get nearly as much usage out of an NT4 as a matched pair of SDCs. I'd rather invest a bit more to buy a used matched pair of KSM-141s. I'm curious about the Oktava MK-012s - especially with omni and cardiod capsules. SDCs with multiple polar patterns are very versatile mics. You can use them on just about anything.
OK, you asked for it. Listen at your own risk. That's her waiting for someone to stick his hand in the cage. That pic is in the motorhome we rented to go to the Grand Canyon a week ago.

We had a fantastic time. We stayed in Sedona for a couple nights, then drove to Williams, AZ, which is about 60 miles south of the Grand Canyon. They have a vintage train that travels from Williams to the Canyon, so we took the train up through the plains. It's a 2.5 hour trip. The RV park we stayed in has a dog spa, so we left the dog there for the day.
It actually snowed on us one night in Williams. My daughter and her dog had never seen snow fall, so we had a lot of fun with that. The only bad thing was driving that RV through the desert on I-40 at 75 mph with 20 mph crosswinds. I got tennis elbow from gripping the steering wheel so tightly.
