Anyone with recommendations of bands similar to Devo or Talking heads? i like their style of music but don't know many bands like em.

none of the stuff that's coming out these days unless it's really good.

That's if you can get past the fact that their lyrics are in Japanese.

If you like Devo try They Might Be Giants. A bit more modern (they came out in the 90s) but similar sound and philosophy, imo.

I <3 Tofu Records.

I just saw Hyde a week and a half ago on Sunset thanks to Tofu. That and they're distributing H+MC stuff in the U.S. I hope they play a show that's not only in the west coast sometime.

A friend just turned me onto this website for discovering new music. You start with an artist or genre you like and it picks similar songs, then you rate them if you like them or not.

Try Echo and the Bunnymen, Magazine, The Cars, Simple Minds, Gary Numan, Brian Eno ("Before and After Science" is a good one), and rent the movie "Urrrrrrgggghhhh! The Music Wars"

I have much better suggestions for old punk.

You missed out big time.

Hyde's show was nothing short of amazing. I've never been fortunate enough to see him wit L'arc, but man... I love his solo stuff.

It was such an energetic performance on his part, all of the songs (he played predominantly off of Faith, a few off of 666, and he played Unexpected) were flawless, and with the band he plays with... just awesome.

If you haven't heard Faith yet, PM me and I'll be sure to arrange something ^_~
