Great discussion going on this thread about the changes and shops on 48th between 6th and 7th...

Manny's Music (NYC) closed

Evidently a new bass superstore has popped up in that area as well.

Enjoy your trip, Broadway and Times Square are amazing places. I have considered re-locating to NYC many times.

How long you gonna be in NY for? I'm out of town this weekend, but I'm playing in Manhattan on Friday (which I believe NOLAbass, if I remembered his TB name right, is coming to as well). Crash Mansion, 199 Bowery, with Heylady.

Seems like Hartke's place is the place to be . . . I might have to brave the subway there soon!

as I wrote in the other NY thread - I just bought a Fralin pup from Carmine Guitars on Carmine st in the village. seemed like a nice place - (I was in and out in really quickly, my car had just broken down and been towed), the owner was nice.

Alleva-Coppolo left New York about a year and a half ago.
Too bad... it was a nice, little shop.

Definitely check out Rudy's and 30th St. Guitars.

Guitarman doesn't have a lot of stock, but he's (Matt Desilva) a really nice guy who loves to chat.

Those are the places I'd focus my attention.
