Newstead plays Sadowsky Basses www.sadowsky.com, and not Fender Jazz basses, although you could be forgiven for mistaking the two!

I do believe all his Hipshot Jazz's have Hipshot Ultralites with Elephant Ear keys.

I think Nino-Brown has played one or two of Newsted's Sadowskys. He could probably give quite a bit of info on them.

I think Jason's Sadowsky were built with Hip Shot ultralight tunners.

one more question;
after looking into getting these tuners
( http://www.hipshotproducts.com/bassmachine.htm )
i am wondering for a Fender Precision, what would be the right size, 3/8" or 1/2".
thanks again!
