I've been in love with this band for years. They really have a lot going for them these days and I don't think they get the respect they should. I'm glad the band stuck it through and found a new singer. I was quite fond of Tarja's vocal abilities and Anette is a great singer as well.

I find that people either love Nightwish, can't stand Nightwish or have never even heard of them, lol.
The upcoming "Imaginarium" movie will change a lot of things!

I really like both of them and that style of music but I have a hard time listening to other bands within that genre. Most of them come off as being "cheesy". I just wish that they would tour in the US more. |

There is one set up in California next January. The main reason they never played in the states is because the old singer did not want to perform in the U.S. -Luke

There was a much larger crowd than I anticipated. Hopefully, that will translate to a lot more shows stateside.

I've seen them twice in Florida, in November of 2007 in Orlando and in September of 2008 in St. Petersburg. It turned out that the St. Petersburg show was the last show they played on the third leg of the North American Passion Play tour. Anette got very sick after that show, so they had to cancel the remaining four shows. I'm looking forward to hearing the new music. |

One of my favourite songs is The Siren.
While watching a live version of The Siren on YouTube, I noticed the keyboard player take the guitarists solo instead of the guitar. So I checked a few other videos and it seemed common others would cover for him, and live they didn't excite me, just stood there pretty much.
So I kinda moved on.

| | | | I heard about nightwish a year ago at the beach, me and my bro were driving down the road and he played amaranth, and followed it with last of the wilds, honestly nightwish doesn't really fit my particular genre preference bit they are still really good, amaranth is one of my favorite songs, and annette's voice is so sexy... Great band from Finland |

I caught Tarot (Marco Hietala's band before Nightwish) in Pori a couple of months back and both his and Tommi Salmela's singing voices are amazing. The bass tone on The Siren (Once) is a personal favourite also.

I personally think they lost the original feel and sound when Tarja left. It's like a different band all together now. They still have an amazing sound musically though and I'm sure they always will. I like how Tarja has gone solo since then and even had Doug Wimbish on bass! Her solo work is very nice, IMO. -Luke

The acoustics of the church were somewhat overwhelming however, but it was much quieter than a PA'ed up club making it far more intimate. Very cool.

| | | I'm a BIG fan of Nightwish . Though i didn't like their music as much after Tarja left, i'm still a loyal fan.. VS, i think we are on the same boat here
i started listening to Nightwish in 2004. man, they took my heart away!! During those days, their's was the exact music i was looking for. I have almost all their songs from Angels Fall First till Once, (i didn't really care after Dark Passion Play ). I still listened to them at least once or twice a day
I don't like Anette's voice. Though she is a very good singer, i think she's just not cut out for Nightwish, maybe Simone Simons from Epica would be a better fit (just an opinion ) | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
