Everything the man touches still sounds unlike, and somehow better than, everything around it.

In all of the music lessons that I've ever taken (granted, mostly classical), my teachers have stressed time and feel. Likewise in school ensembles. |

Its not good, but season 4 of The Wire lays it bare for all to see why music education in the public system is being done away with. The quest for numbers, in that case standard test scores as all resources went into teaching the test. Meanwhile the students became increasingly jaded and thus do worse and worse. And the public responds by trying to do something to increase test scores and things get worse as drop out rates rise in part out of students boredom of being taught the test for ever increasing block of time.
