no output on wireless 1/4"

hey guys, i have this problem with my sennheiser wireless system.

the transmitter is an ew100g2. this works perfectly. i know this because of the weirdness of the problem with the receiver.

the receiver is the em100g2. if you plug a 1/4"cable into it and run it to your amp or a soundboard you can only hear it if you turn all the gain and faders and everything all the way up (i was using a crappy amp that i dont care about trashing to test this sort of thing) and then you can barely hear it. im talking whispers of sound. on the other hand if you plug the xlr into the receiver and then into a sound board its crystal clear. no problems at all. i have an male to 1/4" that i tried running to an amp, once again no problem (except the cable is not that great and if it is josseled it will short out). i would really like to avoid the sending it to sennheiser since i am generally broke. and if i do send it to them i would really like to give them a little more than what i have here.

any help on this would be great, i am pretty handy with a soldering iron... speaking of, i cracked it open to see if there are any burn marks or anything out of the ordinary and there wasnt. if you need any other info i will gladly supply.

thanks in advance!

nope, all settings are good. forgot to mention that. besides the settings affect both 1/4" and xlr outputs. thanks though, i thought it was a setting at first too. the story is i help lead a youth praise band and i let the bass player use my rig for a "concert" in a park. i was there, i set it up. my job at this gig was to run sound. it worked fine during the show but after i got busy trying to pack all the pa stuff up and i told the kid to leave it and i would pack it up after i finish with the pa. he didnt listen and packed it all up for me ("as a favor," he was not only an idiot but an arrogant jerk!). i dont know what he did to it but when i got home and plugged everything back up in my music room there was no sound (i also had to buy all new cables because he wrapped them around his arm and then tied them in a knot to stay them). anyway, this was a few years ago and i really miss being wireless. i found the transmitter last night and started the research again and thought i would try this out. (:
