No singing, Smooth bass Jazz

I'm getting into jazz and funk, and dont know any good jazz songs/bands. What are some good Jazz songs, with no sing, and a lot of bass in them. I dont really like saxophone that much either. Probably just drums, BASS, and maybe a teeny bit of guitar. Any replies are appreciated.

well, the closest thing i can think of is Fourplay, but they have a guitar player. its pretty smooth, there is a touch of singing, but nothing that takes center stage. the bass is really grooving...i mean, come on, it is nathen east.

they are worth a listen imo

I was just looking for smooth jazz basses and found this thread. If you're interested in that type of music, check out sky.fm It's free, basically no commercials, very very very little dj stuff, and good quality that runs through winamp or qt. Just go to the website - http://sky.fm -

The Rippingtons are a band that could fall in that category. Good music.

Also Shadowfax, on the more artsy side.

Those are two good jazz guitarists. I think you are going to have to accept listening to saxophones and trumpets if you really want to hear smooth jazz.
Here are some good smooth jazz songs...
Lonnie's Lament
Blue Bossa
Round Midnight
Freddie Freeloader
All Blues
So What
Summertime
Tutu
Goodbye Pork Pie Hat
Watermelon Man
Maiden Voyage
Dolphin Dance
On Green Dolphin Street
My Favorite Things

These are mostly standards.
