Non-slip work bench cover

Does anyone have any recommendations on a work bench cover that will prevent a bass from sliding around, but also won't harm the finish?

Sure, there is a puffed vinyl material that works great for that. In thick sheets they sell it as yoga mats, and in thinner mesh sheets they sell it as a shelf/drawer cover material in any home-goods store.
