I first saw her while on my sister's laptop (on TalkBass obviously), I was watching TV and a RollingStones commercial came up and she was playing Don't Know Why and I instantly fell in love with her!
Heard her and her bassist, Lee Alexander, broke up... stupid guy! But they're still friends apparently. =( (scroll down)
Anyone know when her movie, My Blueberry Nights, is coming to theatres in Canada? IMDB says November 16 2007 (limited) and USA February 13 2008 (limited)... I don't think I ever seen it at the theatres. =\
Is she making another CD? and Will she be touring Canada soon? Specifically Quebec? =D
ah I love Norah Jones <3 |

YMMV. |

| | | I totally dig her. That first CD with Bill Frisell playing and I think producing, and Brian Blade on drums (I think, anyway) is just beautiful. When it came out, it was unique sounding, and a refreshing change for all the young 'jazz singer' CD's that sound totally derivative (i.e., bad Ella copies, etc.)
I really like where Brian Blade and the band put the time on that disc... WAY behind. It swings a lot to my ear. I love the 'sound' of the mix also... very organic. It sounds like 'music' to me
Nice stuff. I kind of lost interest after that, but it was a breath of fresh air when it came out to my ears! |

There are some great songs on it but too little musical surprises to keep my interest. It was claimed to be a jazz album but there is not a single improvised solo as far as I remember. Most songs were about 3 minutes long and they were all pretty similar. It worked as background music for romantic dinners or as music to fall asleep to, but that was pretty much it.

Think of it as an excellent singer/songwriter CD and you'll be fine! I would give the second CD a spin if you have the chance. |

When it came out, it was unique sounding
| Actually it sounded extremely similar to Jesse Harris's LAST engenue/hip/talented/young hottie: Once Blue/Rebecca Martin
If you like Nora, but find it a bit sleepy, check out this band! Many of the same players as Nora's first, with the same flawless writing and arranging. you can get it for 3 bucks on Amazon, but there is a japanese release that contains the sessions from their un-released second album (never get involved in a band with a couple).
Rebecca Martin is every bit as hot, and has 10 times the voice!
