I think we need one.
The new concept album is coming out on April 17, 2007. It's more than sonic art - it's a political statement! For those who haven't been aware of the viral marketing / art experience campaign going on for the album, start here.
Four tracks are out there on the 'net now - two are official ("Survivalism" and "My Violent Heart"), and the other two were leaked via flash drives planted at a few concerts ("Me, I'm Not" and "In This Twilight"). Plus, a radio version of "The Beginning of the End" is floating around, too.
Industrial rock fans rejoice, especially if you liked the older NIN stuff! So far, it's sounding great! Plus, the trailer on http://yearzero.nin.com/ is creepy, and worth seeing with the lights off.
EDIT: Here's the link to the new "Survivalism" video (I referenced this in Post #9): http://www.echoingthesound.org/phpbb...er=asc&start=0
Post thoughts, opinions on the new material, comments on their marketing, whatever! I just wanted to see how other TB members feel about Year Zero.

From reading about it on Wikipedia, this sure looks like an interesting album--I'll definitely be picking up a copy.

One of my favourite bands in any case.

Trent's a nice guy and he is capable of some real quality work. Methinks he's making too much of an effort to be accessable instead of truly following his muse. |

But yeah, I agree with you about his last album - I thought With Teeth was too mellow and "commercialized" of an album overall. I'm personally really fond of Broken and The Downward Sprial ( The Fragile was great, too!).

Looks like some new sites have been going up... take a look at them when you get a chance.. weird stuff. Also, I've heard on the radio and read on the 'net that Reznor might do a movie based on this concept album and his next one (which sounds like it may be a sequel to Year Zero). And the biggest news of all: The "Survivalism" video!
For those who didn't think the song was that great, the video really makes up for it and will almost certainly change your opinion about the song and its style. It really captures the essence of the album's storyline. IMHO, it's one of his best videos since "Closer" and "The Perfect Drug". WARNING: Contains some offensive material. But if you're a NIN fan, it's nothing that'll surprise you.
Check out these sites for updates on the new Nine Inch Nails stuff. It's where I've been following up on the album and the work surrounding it: http://www.echoingthesound.org/ http://www.theninhotline.net/

Besides the usual intriguing artwork in the CD cover and booklet, the CD label itself is bizarre. It's normally all-black, with just the letters "year zero" in white. The texture of the label was a bit funny, but I didn't think much of it... until I ripped the tracks to my mp3 player.
It's a heat-sensitive label! A whole new graphic shows up when it's warm, and it fades afterwards. Neat-o

I haven't been overly interested in NIN since they released With Teeth. Nothing can top The Fragile, imo. However, I'd be more than willing to give this one a chance. |

The concept around all this is so cool also, i follow the website-thing and stuff since my brother (a die-hard NIN fan) found it, in the beginning of febuary. This website is a pretty good summary of all of it.
Can't wait that NIN Live comes to montreal!!! and when the next album, next year, will be released!!!
