Before the lockjaw sets in, allow me to say: OOOOOOOOOOWWWWWWW!
I was setting up my Fury and somehow managed to jab an entire D string into the meaty part of my left palm. Woke the neighbors when I did it. I should know better by now. Oh well, won't be the last time. At least the bass turned out okay.
I found the black tuners in a box and they look so good, I think I'll have the bridge coated to match them.
Peavey sent me the wrong nut (see how narrow it is), so of course I put it in anyway. I'll clean the pots and adjust the volume knob when I finish routing the new pickguard (yes that's a warp on the original) and install it, and I'll actually polish the body at that point. Man I forgot what a good bass this is. I'd wager this ranks up there as one of the most versatile single pickup basses around. It actually sounds quite a bit better than the Foundation next to it.
I did my first fret level and crown on it today, and it plays really nice, and the action goes incredibly low. That combined with the Tru-Oil finish on the neck makes for a great combination. I will now be doing fret jobs on anything I can get my hands on in order to get more practice. I should start a turnaround service on SX and Squier necks! |

Never jammed a string into my palm, but I jammed a pair of cuticle scissors into my palm when I was 9. That hurt like crazy. Hope it feels better.

Still have the tiny scar on the tip of my left-hand middle finger.
Thank goodness for technology.

Do bass injuries hurt more?

| | | | Never with a bass string, but I did skewer my hand with a piece of bamboo when I was 11. I was sword fighting with my cousin- we both swung our pieces of bamboo and on contact my piece shattered, sending a sliver about the size of a pencil straight through my hand..... |

i was messing around with my first bass (jolana jazz bass copy) and i removed pickups (humbuckers), beneath them were pair of brass plates. fixed with one nail
so tried to remove nail with pliers, but it was impossible. so i grabbed the plate with pliers and pulled it with my right hand, i put my left hand over the sitrings near pickup hole and pulled and ziiiiiiing plate cut my finger from nail to the bone. it hurt like hell and i was bleeding all over. it's been 7 years since that and now it's just a scar across my fingerprint and sometimes it feels bizzare and disturbing when something sharp is even lightly pressed on that scar. i get chills even when i think about that |

I grabbed the string, and rattled the windings down (bravado), accidentally hit the microphone stand in front of me, which wobbled back and then forward again, only to smack me in the mouth and leave me with a fat lip!

Do bass injuries hurt more? | Not really...you just scream a couple of octaves lower.

The adrenalin rush was too great, I didn't even realize until the second to last song I developed huge blood-blisters on 4 fingers. It didn't matter to me until after the show a guy invited us to record in his studio at no charge (the next day at noon) Had to tape my fingers up. The naked contact of string - finger was unbearable. Recording turned out alright though.
edit: this isn't a puncture wound, sorry

So I have thousands of string punctures.
Yes, it looks like crap. |

When the Who were doing the reunion tour in the early 90's and Pete switched to Strats with whammy bars, he was doing windmills and drove the whammy bar through his palm. Man, you think bass strings give you a puncture wound... |
