The Official TB Home Stereo Thread! (Cars Too)

Sign in to disble this ad
I know everyone here on TB is a music lover to some degree, so what are all of you music lovers playing recorded music on while at home or in your car?

I'll start.

Denon DCD-1800R CD Player (c. 1983)
Marantz Model 2245 Stereo Receiver (c. 1972)
Cerwin Vega VS-120 Floor-Standing Speakers (c. 1995)

I got everything used and have less than $300.00 into my home stereo.

Who's next?

I have a 15-year-old Sony A/V Receiver with a pair of 20-year-old Design Acoustic PS-10 speakers I bought used. They aren't very big, but they have 10" woofers hiding on the bottom, which is the reason the speaker is elevated 2" above the base.

Total invested - about $400. I don't spend a lot on stereos.

Third from bottom is the CD changer.

I just use my PA. 600 Watts Per Channel, baby!

Great idea for a thread!

No pics, but mine are: Dali 350 speakers, Rega Planet cd-player, Rega Planar II turntable (all 1997), and a Denon PMA-860 integrated amp (early nineties).

Need a new amp though, the Denon is starting to fall apart.

Some...

Like Basses, GAS has been a factor in my stereo system(s) too. A lot of my stuff is vintage (70's & 80's), but some is more recent

Office system:
NAD Tuner, Sony CD Recorder, Marantz CD player, Electrocompaniet Preampliwire

Monster (hiss!) HTS5100 Power Center, (early 80's Harmon Kardon) HK 775 Mono amps

Ohm Acoustics CAM 16 Speakers (Velodyne sub hidden in the corner behind my ABG)

Main system speakers

My speakers in the main system are my original early 70's JBL L-100s - purchased new in 1973 - Conrad-Johnson PV2AR pre, Rotel amp, Sony CD - but, I usually use my iPod as a source. I also have a pair of Acoustat 2+2 (8 feet tall) electrostatic speakers (which my wife Hates!) and a bunch of other stuff. I'm also a headphone geek (Headroom Supreme, Sennheiser, Etymotic, Shure, Koss, etc.)

I just picked up another Marantz Receiver, a Denon surround sound system and an Onkyo 6-disc CD changer today.

The Marantz is a Model 2215 and it'll be primarily used with headphones.

Does anyone have good recommendations for quality 'phones? I'd like to stay as close to $100.00 as possible.

My car (Subaru Legacy GT wagon):
Pioneer Headunit with USB/AUX/CD, 55w/ch, SiriusXM radio, Infinity Basslink 200w sub.
Enough bass for my bass-loving, enough room for carrying all of my gear...

The Mrs.'s Car (Toyota Camry Wagon):
Alpine Headunit with USB/AUX/CD, 55w/ch, SiriusXM radio, Sony Xplod 2x12 cabinet with Kenwood 600w amp.
She doesn't appreciate the brown-note style bass that this system affords her... but I do when I have to drive it.
