Oily skin, help

Sign in to disble this ad
I have pretty oily skin. When I play for a prolonged period of time the strings, my plucking fingers, and sometimes the back of the neck get oiled up, making holding notes more slippery and making things harder. Does anyone know any way I could prevent this?

well, wash your hand with some anti-bacterial soap before you play, or have some hand sanitizer. It will dry your hands a bit, and keep the strings from getting oily and dying prematurely. Also, fingerease or fast fret help with the strings and the neck.

When you overly dry out your skin, it responds by creating more oils. So you have a couple options. Use less soap in the shower, As most soaps dry out your skin. Use a Moisturizer after you shower, so as to replenish your skin so that it won't get all oily. Shower with colder water, not cold, just colder.

You don't want to respond with drying out your skin, that's only a temporary fix, that will result in more oiliness later.
