Ok, don't nobody shoot me now.. I bought a new Guitar!

When I first started out in music some 24 years ago, it was to play guitar, like most 13 year olds! Anyway, after trading in my guitar for the bass, I never looked back... So the other day I am trying to write a new song and using the bass along with Garage Band it occurred to me that I really could use a guitar. Don't want to hassle with amps, and such so I went shopping for an acoustic, and after trying out some 25 guitars from 5 or 6 makers, I went for this Martin DM! It's not anywhere close to their flag ship models, but it's for a lot less dough!

I've still got my E and A shape bar chords and open chords down.. now for the real hard stuff! Time for a few lessons I suppose!

Very nice!

I like noodling around on my acoustic when I don't feel like plugging in a bass.

It's been so long since i have touched a regular guitar.. i at the store the other day..ordering a new bass amp. Picked up this six string accoustic.. could hardly do a regular D, G cords.. but was able to do the barre cords pretty good.. it made think that maybe i should get another six string, just for around here at the house to noodle with.

Nice guitar. I'm personally not a big fan of Martins, but if you like that kind of acoustic sound, they are great.

The hardest thing for me is the B and E2 strings cut into my fingers.. kinda makes playing bass "Easier"

I sometimes mess around on my brothers guitars, more frequently on his nylon string than on his Electric. If I'm in a "John Mclaughlin" mood I'll often get it out and wonder why I suck at playing it. He makes me look ridiculously bad when he picks it up.

Thanks all...

Ok.. so I'm a bit fickle ..

After posting a picture of a new Martin I bought on this forum. I took that Martin (a DM) back to the store today to get a setup and while there, I played a bunch of different guitars.. As I was trying several Martins, Gibson's, and other brands.. I decided to see what these Taylor's were all about..

I first played a nice 810 which I liked a lot, but this GS caught my eye, and after trying it once.. I knew i had to have it! The store would not deal one dime on its price however, so I ended up spending quite a bit more than I had hoped! I don't think I'm going to be disappointed though.

The tone is one of a kind.. springy and bright, with good lows.. almost like the Martins that I played costing $4000 more..

I has been my life long dream to someday have a Martin, but this turn of events has more to do with logic and value, as the only Martins I liked more than this model cost $4000+ .. A price that will have to wait for later, as I'm still a bassist for some 24 years now first and foremost, and have to save money for that addiction.

Here is a few pics.. (pardon the bad photography as it was dark outside and my flash batteries were low).

Your comments are most welcome, positive or negative! Thank you..

edited to remove old pics!
