I agree.

When I see a bass laying on friggin asphalt, I have to yell - what is the ******** thinking? Or not thinking?

My favorite has been - a guy selling a bass, with a picture of it balanced precariously on his fence. Once little gust of wind, and it's slamming to the ground. What a butt head.

No whining from your original post. You're 100% right.

Exactly what I was thinking. I owned a bass that took me seven years at least three nights a week to wear through the finish where my thumb sat near the bridge pickup.

Things like hardwoods, steel, plastic, etc. aren't exactly fragile. If you own a bass that would get scratched by a nice patch of grass then you got ripped off.

People take pictures on the floor because it gives a neutral background so you can see the bass. Concrete I would have trouble with, but a wood floor or carpet? What's the problem?

Agreed. Considering that a guitar-bass stand can go for as little as 8-10 bucks, there is no excuse really.

^This.

The key to selling your completely ordinary bass is to shoot it resting on your one of a kind imported sofa.

I went to Bass pro shop and to my surprise they didn't have a single bass guitar.

On the grass - a little stooopid, but not that bad. On concrete or asphalt - extreme stooopidity. On carpet or couch - no harm, no foul.

The great/horrible thing about the internet is everyone can voice their opinion/complaints for everyone to hear/as if anyone cares.....lol/not really

Or how about a picture of the bass taken in a garage full of crap leaning on a pile of old newspapers and such?
Or laying on an old couch with a hideous floral design fabric that is enhanced with pizza stains, cat hair, and a half eaten bowl of fruit loops all of which is perfectly illuminated by the glow of a cathode tube television that is precariously perched above yet another broken console television inside a single wide mobile home with dark wood paneling?
I would say that inspires confidence like nothing else imaginable.

I know what you mean!
I've seen so many ads of beautiful, high end bass guitars for sale. I go to look at the pics and the bass is laying in the grass in the backyard. Drives me crazy!

Or a crappy cell phone picture that looks like it was taken with my Nokia flip phone from 2001. Thanks for the pics bro!

Not professional but it doesn't hurt the bass.

Laying an instrument on a smooth, hard surface doesn't hurt it either.
