BTW, my favorite was the Martin. |

BTW, my favorite was the Martin. | I asked the website owners, a music store about them and they're all recorded directly thru a mike with no effects, and played by the same guy... just with some variations.
Seems like the Martin didn't record as loud however.. |

I think in a band setting, the other two would cut through a little better with the additional highs, but to me, they didnt sound as natural as the Martin. To this point, my favorite acoustic Ive ever heard is the Taylor 714ce. Its full, but with very natural, shimmering highs that I just love. Sounds awesome in a band environment as well solo. Someday if I get into playing acoustic more, and I have the money, Ill probably have one. |

The Huss and Dalton was very close to Martin, the biggest difference was it didn't have as much high end as the Martin.
The Bourgesis sounded to me like a D bodied Rosewood guitar, big, fairly well balanced. but a little boomy on the the low end.
All three sounded good and I have a feeling three different Martins could have had as much difference in sound.

I like them both and I suppose if I was playing them I might feel differently. |

The Huss & Dalton had the smoothest strummed tone.*
The Bourgeois Had the best low end.*
The Martin was best all around. But it's the Martin equivalent of a custom shop reissue. The recent Martins I've played would have been pretty anemic next to the H&D or the Bourgeois.
*At least over my computer's speakers.

-Martin (warm, inviting, as if it were dipped in butter)
-H&D (sounds almost identical to my D45V, great Dreadnought sound, but no perfect)
-Bourgeois (a bit to bright, with not enough distinction between the Lows, mids and highs, i.e. too much mid's bias) |

I've been hunting for an acoustic a bit myself, and I keep going back to the Martin line. I'm not real familiar with the Bourgeois, but it sounded kind of "middy" to me as well. The H&D was pretty good, too.
Just something about the Martins ... I think your description hits it on the head, Sam, very smooth and warm which is what I'm looking for in an acoustic. My only issue is the price, definitely on the high side for me, but then all of these basses are pricey ..... |

Not only Martin, but Taylor, H&D, Bourgois, etc..
I can't discuss the discount, but let's just say.. it's good! |
