Old Music That Earns Your Respect

Growing up in a family of musicians, I used to hear songs that I absolutly hated , and thought to myself " I wished I didn't have to hear it again " . Now that you are a musician your self , and that old crappy song you hated as a kid has earned your respect and your hearing it with different ears. Then you say to your self , wow I used to hate that song , now its pretty cool. The one I hated the most was " Let Me Help " from the 70's , I can't recall the singer, just the tune. What was some of yours ?

Do you mean "I Can Help" by Billy Swan, also done by Elvis, recently covered by Aaron Tippin?
There are a ton of classic country songs I used to ignore, but gained an appreciation for after playing country for a while. I used to think Buck Owens and George Jones were the 2 biggest hillbilly geeks in the world, until I saw them live. Found out I like their stuff a lot.

My dads bluegrass. I HATED it growing up. Now it kinda makes me grin when I hear it.

I haven't bought any cd's, but if it comes on I listen.

I will admit that I used to hate all the 50s rock-and-roll I heard in the house growing up.

Now I play bass I listen to it now and realise there is some good stuff in there......!

I have to back Fassa up on this one. I used to think "You're the one that I want" from the Grease movie was oh so corny, but since learning bass I think that song plain rocks ... and it grew to the point I can tolerate old rock now too.
