Maybe...
My friend Larry is a film student, and to make money on the side, he might start working for the local porn company. Lighting, camera work... lubrication.
So anyway, he tells them that he knows a guy who writes music on his computer all the time (moi) and would be interested in composing for porn.
So, ladies and gentlemen, I ask you. What do you look/listen for in porn music?

Ha, my concern is, I'd like to write a sterotypical porn song, but at this point I wonder if it might be concered to clique, therefore funny, therefore a turn off. So, all I know so far (I read an article about porn music in blender) is subtle and somewhat dark is key.
Also, I don't watch much porn, so I don't know the music that is played in porn that well. I just know the
funky bass + wicka wicka guitar = porn
formula

The one thing I think would be sampling the assorted "noises" and making beats out of them....we all know the moans never sync up right anyway.... |

but it sounds like you're going to have to bite the bullet and watch lots of porn to get the feel for it. |

| Or is it rather, that you have watched too many cheaply-made porn movies...?

Also the cheesey wah/funk music is about as 80s as the 70's porno 'stache. Most modern adult films have an electronic score (techno, house, jungle, whatever you wanna call it), not actual instrumentation.
... I'm saddened, frightened, and a bit perplexed that I 1)have an opinion on this, 2)it sounds reasonable and thought out and 3) makes me sound like a porn hound.

Like I said, I don't watch porn, and this is pretty much what I was thinking. I was going to mix real music with techno.

I would think that would be important to find out what kind of film this is: is it strictly sex, or does it have a plot? Is there a target audience (I would think a film geared toward couples and/or women would require a much different score)?
Think repetitive. Think unobtrusive. Think 12 bar loop. |
