ONE BASS NOTE THAT MAKES YOUR HAIR STAND ON END !

Sign in to disble this ad
I was just reading a thread on neck through basses and how they sustain [ or not ] more than bolt ons . It`s very infrequently that we use a Basses sustain to its full extent outside of a last note in a studio for example .
One I thought of in a song would be the E Adam Clayton hits in the middle breakdown of Gloria on U2`s Live at Redrocks , im sure theres plenty others

When Jaco comes in on Joni Mitchell's Overture/Cotton Avenue (on "Don Juan's Reckless Daughter").

I bet I could name a few more, but the B just before drums/guitars enter on Damage, Inc. is one note I remember right now.

The first time you hear the low G on Those Shoes by the Eagles

Desperation in the singles bars
All the jerkoffs in their fancy cars
You can't believe your reviews
Oh No, you can do that once you started wearing those shoes

I dont remember a bass note doing that, but John Petrucci's solo in Lines in the Sand gives me the goosebumps.

The riff Geddy plays during the intro of Cygnus. Growl-o-rama.

In Weather Report's "A Remark You Made", Jaco has about a dozen moments that qualify for this thread. That whole song is absolute tonal poetry.
