That ONE song you always play each time you pick up a bass.

Title says it all. Which song do you always play when you touch a bass?
For me, it's Jamerson's "What's Going On".
The first bassline I've ever learned by ear, forever etched into my memory.

God Save the Queen - sex pistols.

or

Prayer of refugee - rise against.

It usually flucates between the two but they both always get played and often fight for first. I have a bad habbit of learning new songs and in the middle start off with the riff to one or the other without even realizing it.

The first minute and a half of Domination by Symphony X. Tells me if the bass is set up well or not because that is a fast song.

Heh, that reminds me of when I figured out how to play the main riff.
In my noobiest days, I found a diagram of the minor blues scale.
Then I played with it and I thought it sounded familiar...and I eventually hit the proper sequence of notes.

And I'd probably love playing this too if my bass didn't act up so much when playing those higher frets.

Love Song by Anberlin/311/The Cure, however you know it. Play it in first position to see the string spacing and then up the octave to see the action and tone a little more. Pick and fingers. Two or three times through the verse riff and I know if I like the bass or not.

+1. This song tells me alot about the tone, too. For pick sound, I`ll run through "Enter Sandman".

Schism - Tool
One of the first songs I learned (almost) all the way through on guitar, and that followed on bass.

Also, I always lay at least a riff or chord sequence that I made up.
