Steve Wishnevsky has recently started posting in his E-bay Listings that he is considering selling his company! I know that he has his devout followers (I love my Wishbass with a passion) and his detractors (Waste of good lumber, ect). How does everyone feel about this? Will the Bass community at large suffer, or be vastly improved? Will his instruments become real collector items, or only prized by a few die-hard nerds? I for one feel that there is a real market for doing what Wish does on the scale he does it. Some of you older TB'ers who have seen things come and go ought to speak up on this. |

He has his place. Hope he hangs out.
P.S. I don't know about the "good" lumber.

Should have bought an SX fretless for half the money and twice the build quality. I sold it soon after I got it. I wanted to like it, but it was way too primitive. I notice some of his stuff on ebay and can't believe the starting bids on those things! |

I'm really into the whole sustanability thing he does with salvaged wood. I got a really great Wishbass for $200 straight off eBay with a spaulted top, so I'm biased.
bump, I wanna know what ppl think. |

What I don't understand is who would want to buy a bass company who's biggest claim to fame is using "salvaged" wood? I can't imagine Wishbass having that big of a following, at least not enough of one to justify paying money for the name. If I was Wishnevsky I wouldn't even think twice about keeping the company. Take the money and run! |

bump, I wanna know what ppl think. | Forgive me, I have seen several, some even worked on. I hear they sound and play great, but, all of them I have seen look like a piece or drift wood or the bottom of a stump.
Not my style, but like I said, he has his place and will be missed by some.

Maybe they could get an infusion of capital, and have Cort or Samick or somebody in Korea build the basses, and Wishnevskys would become real basses.
It's a very weird concept.

It's a very weird concept. | Apparently by the looks and his descriptions of his own basses, he's a very weird person. |

No offense because the price seems reasonable, but they just don't look even to me.
You can't tell me that finish doesn't look like it came out of a Krylon can and look at the string through holes.

With every $400.00 bass, you will get one free $50.00 option such as lacquer finish, or a truss rod.

Wish Bass = Junk Bass
but in terms of salvaged wood, check out how some guitarists lust for "Kellycasters"....the guy scrounges old woods from demolitions in NYC
