Just when I was thinking Bruce was the only E.T. in the band...
Yes, you have to feel/hear it!
He does it all to your ear drum in only 3 or 4 minutes.

Find The Aquarium Rescue Unit 3-9-94 or else,

Track 7 around 5 minutes in 'till about 9 minutes
- Victor who?
Christ!

Oh, and Mike Gordonovich (what a slouch)
sits in for a couple also...

My bad -
amidst my excitement and haste, I made a small/large error - depending on who you talk to.
The tune is called Time Is Free...
Bruce is a genius.

Why are you tryin' to tease people with an album that's been OOP for about 10 years?

Umm, it's not on an album. Well, the version I've got at least (check the date). It's a live show with Mike Gordon sitting in and that solo Oteil takes in particular is amazing. Good show to download is all...if that show was made into a real album I'd be shocked...

"Time Is Free" is the tune you're talking about, right?
...'cause I fired up the ol' mp3 player & listened to it.

The version I have is on Col. Bruce Hampton & The Aquarium Rescue Unit; this is a LIVE album. I recall buying this & Mirrors Of Embarrassment on the same night many moons ago.
I believe both are OOP.

Anyway-
The version I have does kick ass; it's begins with a muted bass groove in "5"(I think?) & moves to "6" when the vocals come in. Pretty heady ****.
The tune sounds like The Allman Brothers meet Jaco/Weather Report meets Bela Fleck.
There some nice chording by Oteil in addition to his staccato groovin'/Funk.

Herring takes a ripping...I said RIPPING solo at about 3:00 minutes in(lasts about a minute).
Oteil, Sipe, & Herring are going ballastic at about 3:20-4:00.

Check it out!

Right on Jimk

I haven't listened to that one in a while. I'm sure they've played the song a bajillion times - sometimes I get a little excited about these little moments though

Have you heard the new one - The Calling?
I'll have to acquire it soon.

"From parts unknown and also from Boston,
Apartment Q258 on drums."

I bought The Calling as soon as it was released.
This version of ARU is more Rock'd out vs. the Colonel daze.
There's an 'updated' version of "Egos"...one band I played with used to open with that tune(our only cover song).
