i'll put this in misc, since it's music related, although it could go in recordings, or one of the band-related subforums.

OT is specifically for non music related stuff.

on the topic of the tunes, how about the confessor? that's sort of a cool song.

I really like ordinary average guy. I don't know if it would go over big or not, but I really like that song.

Back when I was in HS, & James Gang were still fresh, my bands played a lot of their songs. Some of us are getting together next month for a "reunion" gig & we just added "Welcome To The Club".

Above, already mentioned, plus "Meadows", "Turn To Stone", "Help Me Through The Night", 2 different arrangements of "Walk Away" ("Thirds" & "Live In Concert").

Definitely either Turn to Stone or The Bomber. Two great songs. Every band used to play The Bomber back in the day and it always went over well. I have never seen anyone but him do Turn to Stone, but the song kicks @#S so why not...

Given that at last three of the songs on that list are *long* tunes, that'd be quite medley... But I'm on board -- I've always really liked the whole Bolero thing in "The Bomber"... Not to mention that his guitar on that piece is freakin' EPIC.

The problem with this song is all that cool percussion... I've done this with just a drummer who did okay on "rock" but couldn't even fake the big drum solo in the middle... So I think you best either have a GREAT drummer or be ready to have everyone pick up a wood block/conga/bongo and pitch in during the solo...

Hope you have a hell of a singer for "Rocky Mountain Way". That's a tough song to sing. Unless you have a keyboard player with a Wurlitzer you'll want some kind of envelope filter for the bass/drum breakdown part.
