Ozzfest vs Iron Maiden

This is the story:

Before the gig, "Doctor doctor" was played, and somebody started screaming "Ozzy, Ozzy!" through the PA.

During the IM gig, the PA fell out five times

Ice, bottles and eggs were thrown at IM (some say out of the VIP)

When IM thanks the crowd someone screams "Ozzy" again through the PA.

Sharon calls Bruce Dickingson a "Prick" [url]

Bruce gives an angry speach.

I'm quite stunned to be honnest.

Crowd boos loudly. 2nd clip Bruce replies (or were his comments earlier?) along the lines that "you the people are the effing reason we're [Maiden] back on this stage tonight effing effing.their PA was turned off several times on purpose, the eggs were avaiable sidestage on purpose, and that nothing will effing get between Maiden effing and their effing audience effing effing effing."

Was this end-of-tour hijinx with the eggs and PA that Maiden didn't take kindly to? Perhaps we'll never know ...

LOL....Are you over there at the Zakk Wylde Board too? I just got finished reading and listning to those over there. You know Im a big Ozzy and Maiden fan, but this kind of pisses me off and makes me laugh at the same time.

Sharron is such a bitch anyway look at what she did with Ozzy's first two albums. What ever sharron says or does dosn't really suprise me anymore.

I'm about done with Ozzy tho...IMO I think Sharron is the reason for Ozzy losing his Metal Status... There has been a lot of Ozzy fans turning their backs on him.

I don't know why Maiden were playing Ozzfest anyway. They could easily handle a tour on their own. Even if it was just them - playing for four hours or so.

Sharon sucks.

Iron maiden kicks ass. Sharon can go **** herself. I dunno why Maiden was evn playing ozzfest they can totally do their own tour.

If Iron Maiden did a tour now, they could probably sell out 2000 seat theaters tops. Ozzfest takes place in stadiums and large amphitheaters.

"Obviously some ****er went down to the supermarket and bought eggs only to throw them at us, **** YOU! **** YOU! If i were a Maiden fan i would make sure this guy is beat to the ground and brought back up in 2."

They went on, or did they? Next thing happened, They were in the intro of Hallowed be thy Name, and Bruce is sitting on the stairs singing away but looking into the crowd, then all of a sudden he gets up and walks toward the crowd and says

"Thats the ****er! Yeah YOU! With the ****in Glasses! You ****er, 'spitting all over the stage the band' (something along those lines) **** you!! If i wasnt up here i would beat the ****in **** out of you, but i would get sued! **** you! I'll ****in **** on your head!!."

Maiden fans were delighted, but not Bruce. They set was cut extremely short due to the fact that someone kept shutting off there PA system. It was definitely intentional apparently. At first the guys looked at each other and was like "***?" but Harris being the MAN! that he is said too keep playing. They did and the power came back on, but this happened about 4 times. Cutting Phantom of the Opera short, Run to the Hills short, Hallowed be thy name short, The Iron Maiden short. I WAS PISSED! They left the stage to come back and do an encore. Bruce came and opened with

"All these so called Ozzy fans are disgracing the event. The reason we do this is for the fvckin people! and the fans that have supported maiden and metal!!"

They then did Running Free and Sanctuary with no problems (PA System wise) Running free was definitely extended with a lot of commentary from Bruce saying stuff like sorry this sh!t was being screwed over by the fans and stuff like that. Then at the end of there last song Bruce was going to say some stuff being pissed already, but guess what happens. HIS MIC gets turned off. Not the PA his MIC! So he can't say anything but is being displayed on the screens around. Then the most annoying voice ever comes over the PA and says

"OZZY OZZY OZZY OZZY OZZY OZZY, mutha*******, OZZY OZZY OZZY"

and that was being played over and over through the day between acts. So bruce cant say anything so he gives up with the Mic and looks to the crowd and says the words Maiden, Maiden, Maiden, Maiden, i was able to see it because of the Screen, so we all started saying MAiden Maiden Maiden, instead of Ozzy Ozzy Ozzy. Then the wierdest thing happened. The band left definitely upset and dissapointed, and as the stage hands came on to re arrange the set for Sabbath, Sharon Osbourne (Yes ozzy's wife, who is also the Executive Producer of ozzfest ((Or at least the one who runs it))) came on stage with a mic and said.

"Thank you all for coming to this event we appreaciate everyone, the fans, and the CREW! but let me just say that BRUCE DICKINSON IS A PRICK!! A PRICK!! Iron Maiden the band is great, great guys, but bruce is a prick. Thank you all and enjoy the rest of the show."

everyone was in aww. What just happened? I mean given all the sh!t they went through, they STILL put on the best show then all the other bands. Thats amazing. They were faster, better, and rolled through the songs and put on a great show (when the PA wasnt sabotaged.)

I mean i honestly believe that it was all Sabotage, if not that intentional. Theres no way that much crap can happen to the band in only a 40 minute set. they were scheduled for 55, but they were cut short. And also Sharon coming out herself to say bruce is a prick. That basically ruined the night for all the maiden fans. Needless to say a good amount of people had left after maiden, and DURING sabbath. I thought they honestly they (maiden) still did the best show of the day, they were incredible!. Bruce said at the end...

"Don't worry, we WILL BE BACK!!"

i hope so, i love maiden and they were put through some crap. All in all i think there is some sort of beef between Bruce and Ozzy. what i have no idea, but there definitely was some tension. Also if anyone there wants to correct me on some things by all means go ahead, this is only what i remember (tall cans) so go ahead and post away.

I saw maiden 2 years ago at Molson Amphitheatre and it appeared to be fairly packed and it seats 9000 and has additional seating for 7000 on the lawn. Sure not as big as ozzfest but it was 3 bands not 25.

Wow that really stinks. That just goes to show you that there's a lot more going on behind the scenes in the music biz than people think. My theory? That Sharon and crew were pissed because Maiden was the bigger draw. Whenever they come to Dallas, they do a fair job of packing the shed here. Usually about 10,000 or so in attendance.

Maiden won't be here this week for Ozzfest because of conflicting dates. We get Velvet Revolver. It will be very interesting to see what happens here on Thursday. I've got tickets....so we'll see.

Really... every one is suprised that she is a c***? Its very noticeble from the start really...

I am very much glad that i never went to ozzfest... I love a lot of bands that play there but i don't feel like supporting "that". Probably same reason I am glad i never laughed at mentally ill kids.

I will see (or saw) every band (except for black sabbith) when they are doing their own thing.

I acctually really hope this will be over with and we will never hear from her again...
