Thumbs down PAIN IN MY FINGER JOINTS!!!!!!!

Sign in to disble this ad
This is a new one for me! I've dealt with a plethora of aches and pains in my 30yrs, but this one really worries me!

I had a long practice last night and the pain/discomfort is much more than usual. My middle and pointer finger joints (right hand/plucking) are very sore/stiff/unreliable...it's difficult to make a fist and hold a cup of coffee. I'll also add that it's raining today. I have arthritis in my family which makes me a perfect candidate.

So I think it's time to up my daily vitamin intake. I haven't done any searches yet (I plan to and I have a doctors appt today as well....so I'll have some information for everybody on monday). In the meantime, does anybody take vitamins for their joints?

Glucosamine?
Diet maybe?

Any opinions are welcome! Thanks!

j

Sorry, I couldn't resist.

I have pain and swelling in some of my finger joints from time to time. I have used various " sports creams" on occasion. The ones that contain "glucosamine" seem to work a bit better. I'm not sure if it's a placebo effect or not though.

cheers,
Kevin

well i picked up a bottle of generic Glucosamine for like $7 (40pills i think)... i put in about 8hrs of playing this weekend and im not feeling that bad... i doubt however that the pills have taken effect so quickly, but so far so good.

the doctor was no help at all....if it were up to him he'd perscribe xanax....

kobass- my weekend was awesome otherwise...always is!

How old are you and what specific arthritis does someone in your family have? Only certain types give you a higher probablity to acquire arthritis than the general population so maybe you can lighten up on your expectations!

In almost every case, joints that become suddenly painful can be directly attributed to some varied level of use (extended activity in one sitting, decreased duration between activity, new activity, altered technique of activity, different level of resistance with activity, etc.). Yes, there are diseases of different types which are known to be responsible for similar symptoms, the occurence rates are much lower than the media allows us to believe.

Slow onset of symptoms? As you've seen, most physicians are of little help for common complaints and pass them off as normal, take a pill type of complaints. It's highly unlikely the supplement you've taken had a positive effect that you would notice so quickly - not saying impossible, just not likely. It is quite possible you are on the right path with your thought process though as faulty dietary intake is a primary player in joint pain, muscle aches, fatigue, depression, and a long list of other less common complaints.

Reflect on your activities during the few days prior to noticing the symptoms - was anything out of your normal routine?
