painting a pickguard

how would one go about painting a plastic pickguard?

booo must be a better way.. figured out fender pickguards don't really fit on essex basses..

Is it just the screws, or is something else out of place?

If so, you can just drill new holes in the bass. Nothing to really worry about because they aren't expensive.

If you paint make sure you clearcoat otherwise it will scratch/chip easily. IME, factory paintjobs are usually much better than homebrew.

If its just that you cant find a pickguard that will fit your bass, I think if you look REAL hard you might find one. There are companies that can make a custom one for you too.
