Paul McCartney & Wings

I thought I'd start this after reading some of the other Macca discussion here recently.

I've always really liked quite a bit of Wings' stuff. They did some really well crafted songs that were unashamedly pop music of the highest quality, IMO. If the Beatles weren't such a very hard act to follow, I think Wings would be rated a lot higher in pop music than they have been. And with a great bassist, to boot.

So, what are your Wings favourites? I've included my own in the poll. Feel free to vote for as many as you like or post your own in this thread.

(EDIT... I suppose this should have gone in "Recordings" really - but I've posted here as a lot of the McCartney discussion has been in this forum.)

You left "Junior's Farm" off the list.

Although it's not "Wings," "Maybe I'm Amazed" is about as awesome of a song that could be written..

Not enough choices here...too many great tunes from older Wings albums left out.

1985, Let Me Roll It, Hi Hi Hi, Junior's Farm, etc., etc.

Fair enough - let's hear some more suggestions.

A band I played in back in the early 80's used to open our show with "Venus and Mars/Rock Show" back in the early 80's. Good stuff.

I've always considered 'Silly Love Songs' one of the greatest pop tunes ever. Besides having an amazing, amazing bass line (try to play that line and make it feel like Paul does... it's not easy), it has literally three 'hooks' to it (the three different chorus sections that eventually are merged together), each of which could have anchored a top 10 hit... and they are all in one song. Simply amazing to me.

My favorite Wings tunes arent on the list, although of those on the list, I suppose Jet and Band On The Run are my favorites. Rock Show and Juniors Farm are 2 of my favorite rockers from Wings... I also dig the goofy side of Wings... Home In The Country, Mary Had A Little Lamb, and Admiral Halsey. And how about political songs.... Give Ireland Back To The Irish.. take THAT Johnny Lennon!!!

I admit it.. the only song I know out of those is Live and let die, and I happen to like that one, so I voted for it.

That was easy. Just had to check'em all. But there's an amazing number missing. It would probably be easier with a "Which Wings tracks make you retch?"
