Seems like the conversation runs the gamut:
-Real, honest, well-meaning dialogue.
-Snippy/snarky comments and troll-like behaviour.
-Helping the "newbies" become better informed.
-Widening perspectives for those already experienced.
-Etc, etc, etc...

What is the nicest thing that any TB folks did for you?

Mine:
I can tell you that I certainly have appreciated that when I was inquiring about the intersection and balance of/between music, kids, and family matters, people were open and honest about it, and relayed personal experiences with a depth and clarity that I was not aiming for. While they didn't tell me anything particularly intimate or private, the nature of the comments to me (essentially an unknown stranger to them) was impressive, and appreciated.

Yours?

Hi folks...my experience:
I wanted to buy these strings that someone had for sale in the accesories thread but by the time i got to ask info about them they were gone. The seller said he still had a set that was used but not abused and he sent those to me for free.
Also i had a lot of help with all the questions that i had/have.

So far.....no TROLL behaviour towards me from tbers.

I've been trolled a few times, and was even banned for being a troll (which was revoked when another Mod, Ryan L., intervened and researched my posts and decided I was actually pretty positive and un-troll like - thanks again Ryan!). That was pretty nice.

There are several nice people I have met on here, Doc Bop, Dr. Jim Carr, (both of whom are always very helpful with advice), hentor, black lake ( who volunteered to send me the Fender sticker from his recent Fender purchase when I mentioned that my ship kit didn't include one), Simon Langley (who despite me coming close t offending people in a thread about putting Fender stickers on Squiers sent me a FatSound decal), ThunderLizard (who sent me some very helpful bits on dead spots), Baird6869 (who sent me a pickguard for just the cost of shipping!), david meissner, JimmyM, savit260 (with whom I have several major agreements and disagreements!), and of course fenderhutz.

I agree it would be nice to pay back the TB community "in forward" - wish I knew how!

The TB community has always been free with advice, knowledge and great stories. I feel I would never have advanced as a player at the rate I have, without TB.

The TB community was a positive force in a lot of problems I was attempting to overcome, and has been extremely helpful in pretty much all aspects.

I've been able to get some smoking deals thanks to the camaraderie and friendliness on TB and I always try and do the same for my fellow TB brethren. TB is a great great resource and community for any bassists, more than any other web community I've ever been a part of.

Buyer "A" wanted to purchase an expensive effect pedal here. (about $300)

Seller "B" didn't want to ship it overseas.

So person "A" contacted me and we discussed a plan. I got the pedal from the seller and forwarded it on to him. He paid all the expenses and I got to experience a really rare pedal.

The fact that he trusted a person that he had never met was amazing.

Morf was pretty cool to recommend me some Weather Report albums when I asked. And you can always count on BassyBill to provide some good fusion videos via youtube!

Toasted helped me buy a pedal in the U.K. I paid for it, and had the seller ship it to Toasted, who played with it for a few days and then sent it off to me. He even included a snazzy emo belt! Kick ass!

J.L.D. made a custom control plate for my Dingwall Super J - for free!

I've managed to pass it forward to a couple of people, mainly doing free setups and tech work.

I sometimes find it difficult to fathom the helpfulness, integrity, and warmth of the TB "family." Granted, I don't visit the lobby or OT, and I have added a few TBers to my "ignore list" over the past few years, but on the whole, TBers have been fantastic.

I've made purchases and trades on TalkBass with top-notch people who've treated me professionally while remaining friendly and exceptionally helpful; definitely not what I'd expect on EBay or Craig's list! And I've received very generous advice and counsel in TB threads and via PMs and email that have been truly noteworthy.
