Hey all,
I recent purchase here on TB got me thinking about payment protocol. I am curious when TB members consider a payment to be complete. That is to ask, when do you feel that it is time to ship your sold item? When the payment hits your paypal account? when the payment gets from your paypal account to your bank account, ie when you can turn the payment into cash?
Thanks for the input. The transaction I had was not a bad one at all, but it just got me thinking about the difference between E-bay and TB, since TB has fewer, if any, official rules about these matters. |

I expect the same thing when I am the buyer. It can take another week for funds to be transferred to their bank account. |

As soon as I see the "You've got payment" note in my email, I consider the buyer's portion of the deal closed and now it is the sellers turn to ship the item/s out within 1 day if at all possible.

I recently purchased a bass from another TB'r who saw fit to wait 5 weeks after the payment had been sent and recieved. All of my other transactions were smooth as silk though. You just have to be careful who you deal with.

Plus, it makes little difference whether the money is in your bank or your paypal account. Paypal can snatch it back either way.
I try to ship within 24 hours or receipt of payment and I expect similar expediency from a seller. If you can't ship that quickly it's fine, but please communicate this to me.

When selling I expect and intend to ship the next work day after being payed, and sometimes ship the same day. When buying I expect the seller to ship in at least one or two days.
However, I usually inquire about shipping timeframe before paying.
It's not the buyers problem if I choose to keep his money in my paypal account, or transfer to my bank account. Either way... they've paid me. |

I've dealt with a few jolly jokers here on TB who've shipped stuff to me before I've even started the PayPal process. I'm PMing with "dude...I haven't even forwarded the funds yet!" Their response "yeah, whatever....I'll get it when I get it".
Never had that happen on E-bay.

Resolution in my situation was just reached. I sent a polite PM, seller explained his situation and we reached an agreement. Thanks for all the help! |
