Well what do you ya'll think who was the better drummer bassist combo and why?

And since I can't edit my poll at least I can't figure out how add the option for carrots and dip.

Entwistle & Peart - that would be sick.

Even though I love both combos, my vote would have to go to Lee/Peart.

I think Entwistle and Moon are far more sloppy & have a lot more rough edges than Geddy & Peart.. and Moon & Entwistle together probably couldn't negotiate their way through stuff as technical and disciplined as the Rush stuff...

BUT... I much much much prefer to listen to Entwistle & Moon.. for all his faults, Moon played with a unique recklessness and joyous abandon that I LOVE to listen to... and Entwistle was his perfect match

It's a bit like "Who's better: Babe Ruth or Wayne Gretzky". I vote carrots, with lots of dip!

Both sets're great to listen to... To say that one is better is not to say the other is bad. I voted Peart/Lee. Undoubtedly better technical chops. I think they would have better success if asked to play the lines of Moon/Entwhistle than M/E would have vice versa. That bein' said, you just get a different vibe from each when they play there own stuff (though I do like the Lee/Lifeson/Peart version of the Seeker).

Your mileage may vary.

Although I recognize their great musicianship, I can't stand any Rush songs so I voted moon/entwhistle.

Strange question for me. I like but don't love either band. As others have pointed out, Geddy and Neil have superior technical chops, and I'm not a Keith Moon fan at all. Yet I like the Who's music a bit more.

As a rhythm section I think I'd rather have John Baldwin and Bonzo than either of those pairs.

Well if we are going to spin off the territory of any combo we want then Jaco Pastorius and Buddy Rich.

Neil Peart and Geddy Lee for the win. I love both bands, but Geddy and Peart have better pockets and chops.

I wouldn't say any combo we want, but JPJ and Bonham were as classic a rock rhythm section as either of these two. I'm surprised they weren't included in the original poll.

I can't stand most of Peart's playing. Soulless and machine-like with the same sounding riffs over and over again. Moon is the diametric opposite of Peart. All feeling with very little technical precision. Moon's style is more my style. Lee and Entwistle are both kings in my book and they both play to their drummers' style very well.

How about Townshend versus Lifeson. Two fantastic guitar players in my book.

JPJ and Bonham were a great combo. This is actually a debate my friend and I were having and I was wondering what ya'll think. A poll for best rock rhythm section would be pretty cool.

Moon's spastic drumming annoys me. I can barely listen to the Who even though Pete and John are idols of mine.

Give me Ward & Butler over any classic rhythm section any day
