I was so happy to score tickets for the November 12th show here at the Showbox in Seattle. This will be the 2nd year in a row that I get to see an awesome reunion show on my birthday!! (Last year: Pixies Doolittle @ the Paramount).
This show will be the first of three nights in Seattle, each night a different album will be performed in its entirety. I chose the Mer de Noms evening.
Out of curiosity, I checked the site again today, just to see if anything at all was left for tickets (including the uber pricey wine-tasting w/ Maynard). Nothing was for sale. On to CL, where I found a variety of scalpers willing to trade their pair of tickets for as much as $500. Knowing that all of these shows probably sold out minutes after going on sale, I find it very sickening to know that people were camped out on their computers, just like me, but only for the purpose of re-selling at a much higher price.
This is just a small rant, but I found myself thinking the old "there oughta be a way" type thoughts to shut these criminals down. Isn't this type of scalping illegal? Hard to enforce, I know, but it's disheartening to know a substantial percentage of these tickets will not make it into the hands of true fans for face value (or something respectably near it).
Anyone else get tickets?
