| Phil Collins - Face Value, Alphonso Johnson
This is one of my favorite albums and has been since it was first released. At that time I had never heard of Alphonso Johnson.
Phil Collins is a big fan of Weather Report and asked Alphonso to write the bass line for about half the songs on the album.
These bass lines aren't anything like his stuff with WR but I think they are really nice. Simple. Fluid. The songs wraps themselves around them.
His bass line in "This Must Be Love" is what made me decide to learn the bass guitar. |
