Phone Call to Guitar Center

Sign in to disble this ad
I called my local Guitar Center yesterday looking for a Comfort Strapp. Here is the slightly funny conversation that took place...

GC: Thank you for calling Guitar Center how can I help you?

Me: Yes could you please transfer me to accessories?

GC: Sure

Me: Thanks

(2-3 minutes on hold)

GC: Hello are you waiting for Keith?

Me: Well I'm not sure....I'm on hold for accessories so if Keith would be who I need to talk to then yes I guess so.

GC: Well he is busy right now can I take a message and have him call you back?

(What?!?)

Me: I suppose...but I really don't need to talk to just Keith...I'm calling to check and see if you have a particular strap in stock.

GC: Oh, which one?

Me: I was wondering if you carry a brand of strap called a Comfort Strapp...thats with two "P's."

GC: Okay let me check.

(Brief Hold)

GC: Yeah we do we have it for guitar and bass...they are the same strap so either one will probably work for you.

Me: Actually I'm fairly sure they are different widths and come in different lengths.

GC: Oh which one did you need?

Me: The one for a bass.

GC: Okay...but I don't know how long they are.

Me: Well they come in short, long, and extra long.

GC: I don't know...This one just says "long."

Me: Well that would be the one I want then.

GC: Great! Are you going to come in and get it.

Me: I'm considering it yes.

GC: Were you already working with Keith?

Me: No I've never spoken with Keith.

GC: Oh okay! (I could hear the commision bells go off in his head over the phone)

GC: Well do you want me to set it out on hold for you?

Me: Thats not necessary.

GC: I'll set one out for you. What is your name?

Me: Aaron, but I...

GC: Great I'll put your name on it. My name is Chris, I have a red shirt on and dark curly hair. See ya later dude!

Maybe you had to be there to find the humor in this but I thought I would atleast allow others to share in the stupidity I experienced...even if mildly entertaining.

Thanks!

The funny part of that story is when you go down there to get it and they don't have it, never had it and try to pass off some POS strap as the one you asked about

Me too. It's handoff city and "we'll call you back" until you make it clear you're willing to buy something.

replace the word guitar strap with any thing music related, and that would pretty much sound like the last few calls I've made there to buy or check on something. They need to put their guys on a salary and be done with it.. it wares me down to have to deal with a car salesman every time I want to buy a musical instrument or accessory.

Word on that... But the only thing is every time I buy strings I end up talking to my buddy in accessories for an hour anyways!
